In a previous post, we identified a watch worn by Joe Exotic in a widely circulated tiger cuddling photo as a Le Vian Diamond White Ceramic Day/Date. A reader contacted us to point out that the Le Vian was not the watch that the self-styled Tiger King tied to a tree stump in Episode 4, about 18 minutes in, as seen above. To refresh your memory . . .
Big cat “rescue” jefe Carole Baskin successfully sued Joe Exotic for copyright infringement. Attempting to collect on the court ordered settlement, Ms. Baskin listed Joe’s personal possessions – including his watch and bed – as tangible assets. Joe used an AR-15 and Tannerite to make them intangible
I’m not saying the watch above deserved such a public and ignominious fate. I’m not saying it didn’t. But for sure it’s not the same watch we highlighted and identified in this posed photo.
The white watch Joe taped to a tree stump, shot and blew up has a coin-edge bezel and a dial with loads of negative space. The Le Vian above has subdials and at least one pusher. Again, I’m 100 percent sure the tiger cuddle watch didn’t get blown to smithereens – at least not on camera.
Joe had plenty of tasseled jackets, baseball caps and nipple rings. I assume the tiger trainer/breeder, gubernatorial/presidential candidate and homicidal maniac had more than one watch.
The similarity between these two timepieces makes sense. Mr. Maldonado-Passage had his own semi-unique style and stuck with it (e.g., his kept his hairstyle long after mullets were openly ridiculed).
All of which still begs the question: what watch did Joe shoot?
I have a watch identical to the one he shot
What is it??
