There are indeed quite a number of improvements to the MDV-107 though. Just not a sapphire crystal face (manufacturers would just charge you a bomb for that, beating the purpose of an affordable and reliable beater).

I did purchase the blue one. I then replaced the mineral crystal with a blue tinted sapphire for about $20. If you peak around that AliExpress place you can find metal straps for it. They are not the best quality, but they do the job.

I’ve seen many people out there in the online Casio-verse that have watches 20 – 30 years old. The Duro has been around and very popular for a reason, I suppose.

I have a Seiko quartz (digital) that is 44 years old. I “reviewed” it here:

Typically, quartz watch batteries last for one to two years, but some can last up to five years. The movement should last pretty much forever.

How many years can the quartz movement last for?

Take it to the beach, take it on the boat, take it fishing. Worried about it getting wet? Please reread my 1st sentence. Oh no! it has saltwater residue on it! Wear while you take a shower and wash the brine off. Will you really care that your 50 buck watch was exposed and immersed to water? No. Misbehaving on vacation and worried about your watch? No. So head down to Wally World and throw one in the cart, you need paper towels anyway.
